Opening night gala event

CDOC’s special opening night event on Friday 20 July at 7.30pm is a magical combination of film and performance. GURRUMUL, a documentary considered to be one of the most important Australian films ever made will be shown together with the film’s director Paul Williams in conversation; but then, in a world first, the key musicians in the film will come onto the stage and discuss how they brought together the vastly different worlds of indigenous and western music, and the extreme artistic and technical challenges they overcame to do so. Once we are all much more aware of what has gone into this music, Erkki Veltheim, Michael Hohnen and other key musicians will then perform selected pieces for us, featuring tracks from their chart topping “Child of the Dream” album.

A magical end to a magical evening.
