sunday 22 july – 4.30pm
2014 UK 86 mins Dir: Sophie Robinson Co-Dir: Lotje Sodderland
‘My Beautiful Broken Brain‘ is a profoundly personal voyage into the complexity, fragility and wonder of the human brain.
After 34 year old Lotje Sodderland miraculously survives a major stroke, she finds herself starting again in an alien world, bereft of language and logic. Her captivating film takes us on a genre-twisting tale that is by turns excruciating and exquisite – from the devastating consequences of a first-time neurological experiment, through to the extraordinary revelations of her altered sensory perception. Lotje says it is like being in the famous red room of David Lynch, and indeed she gets to meet the famous director in person at the end of her very heartfelt journey.
