SISTERS WITH TRANSISTORS is the untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers, remarkable composers who embraced machines and their liberating technologies to utterly transform how we produce and listen to music today.

From the very beginning women have been integral in inventing the devices, techniques and tropes that would define the shape of sound for years to come. With Laurie Anderson as our narrator, we’ll embark on a fascinating journey through the constantly evolving and remarkable world of electronic music since its inception in the early 20th century.

To start the evening we’ll immerse ourselves in the sounds created by LOUISE TERRA for a short set before the film, with more to come afterwards. Louise Terra is a Dja Dja Waurung-based artist, composer and producer, writing genre-busting electronica with only her voice, a few synths and a computer!

"Sisters With Transistors is more than a music documentary. It's a long overdue tribute to the women that broke barriers in music, technology, and society as a whole. This is not a retrospective, it's a new beginning. Who knows how many future maestros will be inspired by this film?"
