Rod Quantock: Comedy Warrior charts the life and career of Australia’s pioneering stand-up comedian, Rod Quantock, and his tireless efforts over five decades to communicate the perils of neoliberalism and the cataclysmic urgency of climate change through comedy.

Rod Quantock: Comedy Warrior is a feature documentary that explores the life and times of Rod Quantock, one of Australia’s foremost comedic pioneers and most tireless activists against neoliberal policy and environmental destruction. Rod’s career illustrates the building of what we take for granted as Australia’s thriving comedy landscape in the present day. He has been a potent force in every phase of Australian comedy history; from the burgeoning scene of the sixties at Melbourne University’s Archi Revue, to the theatre restaurant boom of the seventies with the establishment of The Comedy Cafe; to pioneering sketch comedy television in the eighties with Australia You’re Standing In It and the founding of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in

1987. Using animation to illustrate Rod’s spectacularly ridiculous exploits as a stand-up comedian and performer,       while also delving deeply into his work as a climate activist in the last twenty years, Rod Quantock: Comedy Warrior encapsulates the remarkable life of a man who has held steadfast in his pursuit of spreading truth in hilarious fashion.

"If we’re talking about an Australian comedy Mt Rushmore and we’re starting to chisel out the faces, then the first one there has got to be Rod. I mean… he’s the original."

"Rod always liked going on stage with a plan and promptly abandoning it. I never saw the same Rod Quantock show twice. And he never sought to simplify things, he never sought to get it down to 140 characters. He wanted the audience to engage with the same mess that he was looking at."
